Day 6 – Fernie to Baynes Lake 40 miles

For most of the day we followed the Elk River out of Fernie and then out along the 93. The Fernie Alternative route has some gravel but it’s mostly unfortunately on the road. Though we rode 40 miles it was an easy ride. We arrived to at
Kikomun Provincial Park early and found a great campsite along Lake Koocanusa and toured around. we saw an eagle and osprey nest and watched a juvenile eagle practice flying. It was very wobbly unlike the steady and sure flying of it’s parent nearby. We saw endangered colored turtles at Hidden Lake and saw osprey fishing for food from the Koocanusa bridge.
