Bear Alley or Fernie Alternative

Erika and I had planned on ridding Bear Alley before the trip. The description of the three day long part of the GDMBR described it as s remote section of the tour with the highest concentration of grizzlies in North America and the most difficult part of the tour. Rain was expected Tuesday afternoon the start of the bear alley section and rain forecasted all Wednesday. The weather, the difficulty of the trail, and the recent death of a mountain biker in Glacier NP by a grizzly, adjacent the GDMBR trail, gave us second thought to choose the Fernie alternate route. Three fearless and the strongest Alpha Pack riders choose the grizzly alley way. As I lay in the warm hotel in Fernie I think about my Alpha Pack members and hope they are warm and fueled and safely in the rugged Corbin cabin.
